In 4 days...

In four days my husband will start two-a-days, and that means the season for Stanford football is almost here! This time of year I find myself not sleeping as good, and my nails are almost non existent. I know that football has almost begun which brings excitement but also worries and fears. Mike will work over 120 hours a week everyday with the exception of Thursday night in which he will get out "early" which translates into about 8:00pm. I wake up with coffee made, but no sign of Michael, I will stay up (or try to) until he gets home, with a little plate of cold food waiting for him. I will fill my time up with family, friends, house projects, book clubs, and work, and when I start to feel sorry for myself I will remember of this special calling placed on me and my husbands life. I will remember that on Saturdays win or lose, it does seem all worth it. The sacrifice is a lot, but worth it. Its my husbands dream, his ministry, his calling. Football teaches us great lessons of friendship, sacrifice, humbleness, perseverance, honesty, time management, and dedication.

I have this book given to me by a great Head Coaches wife (my mother in law, Melinda) and in this book it has a poem that I love:

"August Brings a New Beginning"
By Lyndi McCartney

Football's here
Goodbye dear.
I'm ready to cheer
For a really great year.

But please save some time
To keep me in mind
For I hate to find
That I've been left behind.

I'm so very proud
And all that you do
Although I get blue
When you work the night through.

I want to be understanding and truly fair
With the pressure you're under I am aware.
I have to do so much when I'm not a "pair."
I need you to show me you really care.

I'll keep things going at home as we planned
While you work and travel all over this land
Loving you is a joy and especially grand
Because God is holding us in the palm of
His hand.
