QB Room

Last weekend I was up until all hours of the night working on Mikes room. I guess, and I found this out later, it was a competition b/n coaches of who had the best room. None of them recruited their wives, but Mike was smart enough to recruit me. So, when Mike asked me to be creative, I sure started my wheels spinning in my head. This year, I went to Sunset Magazines Celebration weekend and took a class on how to decorate on a budget, and for small spaces. There was one project I loved, and I decided to do that very project...a home made magnetic chalk board. This was no small task. Mike and I went to Ikea first and got a a big black frame. Then we had to run over to home depot to get wood the size of the frame, magnetic paint and chalk board paint. Then we drove over to Michael's got little wooden circles and red spray paint. I spent the whole day rolling on magnetic paint, spraying on chalk board paint and spray painting little magnetic wooden circles and pasting magnets on the back. Finally, the project was done, but we still had some trouble because we cut the wood to small and it would not fit in the frame right...so, we finally jimmy-rigged it and and it looks awesome! We dedicated it to the master of the chalk talk, Bill Walsh. We had Coach Shaw draw up a famous West Coast, Bill Walsh play and dedicated it to Coach Walsh. It hangs proudly in the QB room for all to see.

There are a lot of nice touches in the QB room including inspiring quotes painted on the wall, a QB hall of fame, an opponent board, and a nice refrig stocked with water and Diet Pepsi for the Head Ball Coach.

We won the competition!
